From everyone here at Web Lakeland, we’d like to thank Plant City for allowing us to participate in their electrical art box competition.
Many talented artists submitted designs to decorate Plant City’s electrical boxes, and we’re honored to say we were among the selected winners. Winners were unveiled Sunday, November 24th at the Plant City Art Box Unveiling Walking Tour event, held in partnership by the City of Plant City, Plant City Main Street and MAKE Plant City.
Our art piece highlights the agricultural and transportation history of Plant City. When the city was first settled in the late 1800s by businessman Henry Plant, he realized a railroad line connecting Plant City to Tampa would allow for easy sale of crops. His railroad merged with the South Florida Railroad, connecting the small agricultural community to the rest of the state. Today, the city is known as the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World, and is renowned for producing sweet, refreshing strawberries all year long.

We’re hoping our Art Box will be of particular relevance during the Florida Strawberry Festival, but you don’t have to wait that long to see it! If you’re interested in checking out our art, you can find it at the intersection of North Collins St. and Reynolds St., right next to Mr. Sebas ice cream shop. (Don’t forget to try some of their delicious ice cream while you’re at it!)
